My design classes and challenges are very immersive. I’m not too swift coming up with new ideas, so I continue to dig into my old image files. This week took me back elements I made for a 1-minute animation back in 2008: “Be the Change.” I had to go look at it again on YouTube. The message still holds up, though “Miranda’s” silky Southern twang made me smile.
I’m not sure that fabric design is really embracing Gandhi’s lofty message — except that more beauty is definitely a change I’d like to see in the world. There are days too when I try to elevate the design process by making it more Zen: Be the design.
